OUR STORY
East End Jews for Israel, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that was founded following the massacre by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
On that tragic day 1,200 babies, children, teens, women, men, and elderly were raped, burned, and slaughtered in Israel and 251 people were kidnapped and held hostage in Gaza, with many sexually and physically abused and murdered.
At a time when one would expect empathy for the victims of the brutal slaying of innocent civilians and the largest massacre of Jews carried out since the Holocaust, there began a vicious outpouring of slander and outrage against Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East.
The demonization against Israel and Jews that began on October 8—weeks before Israel began defending itself by going into Gaza to search for hostages, hunt terrorists, and seize weaponry to avoid a future catastrophe—has continued to skyrocket.
The worldwide Jewish community has witnessed increases in antisemitism, hate speech, the use of social media to vilify Israel and Jews, and assaults, vandalism, and murder of innocent citizens.
Locally, where our organization, East End Jews for Israel, Inc. operates, we have witnessed swastikas in Montauk, antisemitic harassment in the lower school in Sag Harbor, anti-Israel selections at the Hamptons International Film Festival, disruptive demonstrations in a restaurant specifically targeted because the owner is Jewish, and antisemitic epithets and assaultive behavior directed at our group during what are intended as peaceful protests at the Wharf in Sag Harbor.
East End Jews for Israel was launched in response to the rise in hate language and discrimination against Israel supporters and, by extension, all Jews.
It has never been more important to dispel lies and defamatory myths about Israel, provide tools to identify misinformation, fight antisemitism, build bridges that stop hate, increase understanding, and boost Jewish pride. Support our mission.
